From what I can see your Cycles render are already pretty good. What are you trying to do?

It's kinda hard to explain, you have to experiment a lot.
You need the standard diffuse + glossy + bump nodes, but nose are indeed not enough. You also have to combine more mix shaders adding a subsurface scattering shader and a translucent shader set on dark red (which is the color of our blood). The rest is up to you.. you need to test them together, play around with values and colors until you get the result you want. Be sure your specular maps is not too dark, too.

It took me a moment to realize that he blinks in the picture. Nicely done. Keep up the good work. ^_^

Ahah yeah I've been quite inactive lately, but I want to improve my rendering and editing skills. I would actually need a new powerful computer, since I can't reach the level I'd like... but it costs a lot lol.
Also, for some reason I am having a hard time with the realistic hair/fur in Cycles :XD: can't really use it. At least Dante already has a well made hair mesh and texture, so it works fine without any modification.

Well you see how I do, and my pc isn't the best I will
be honest with you. I need a new one as well but you know, I
really try to make the most of it, with what I have. Its not all
about the pc specs, for better renders, its about the skill people
have :). I mean you are doing great dear xD.

For the hair/ fur, you mean particle wise? Or you are referring to the
mesh hair? I'd have to agree with you on that statement, there are very
few models with nice hair mesh.

Yeah I'm talking about the hair particles. I followed your instructions, but for some reason that doesn't seem to work for me. Like... if I try to use the brush to create a decent hairstyle, the result is always creepy no matter what I do. I also tried to render a fur blanket, but it turned out way better in Photoshop because, even following a tutorial, I got a simple blanket with just some random hair here and there and the rest was empty. I don't really know what's the problem with my hair particle system lol.

Maybe one say I should try again with you on Skype, just to be sure I am not the one who's messing everything up XD

And it's true it depends on skills, but if I want to get different effects and add more nodes, my laptop would probably explode ahah.

ahh lol xD, well yea as you can see I have really been stopping at it for the
simple fact that its evil to me half the time :)... Doesn't like when I add many things
in the scene with it. I mean last time, I had to render the model, with the hair, then
render all her clothing separately, then thank god for PS to save me xD. Well as I said
before, you need to do it by layers. If I remember correctly, you need to subdivide, the
cloth, so that there are more faces for the fur to use.

ahh yea, when I have some time, then maybe we can do that :giggle:, If I remember
how to do it as well lmfao, I haven't done it for a while you know.

ahh xD, I mean dem, I set my nodes really advanced, my render time usually is around
1-2 hours.. sometimes even less... But if the scene is big then it takes around 6 hours.
But that would indeed suck, if your laptop did explode ._ .

Yeah the cloth was subdivided, I imported the scene in blender 2.49, created a dropping cloth, exported and opened everything again in blender 2.71. I added my materials and then followed an easy tutorial on youtube specifically for the fur carpet/blanket... but that didn't work too well for me XD not a bother at all because I could make a very nice effect anyway with PS, but still it sucks because I can't get a decent hair for the same unknown issue.

Ahah it's okay, I'm sure you will remember at some point XD it's like using a bycicle I suppose.

Yeah my renders don't last too much, from 1 to 3 or 4 hours, not more than 5. It depends on the scene indeed. If I only have a character with transparent bg it's faster. I am now testing a lot that set of nodes for the skin and I love them... they of course make everything slower, but it's fine.

Oh right, the volumetric lighting! That thing is evil, so damn slow and the result is never like the one showed in Andrew Price's tutorials XD
