Marvelous Designer practice by SumireHaikuXNA Marvelous Designer practice by SumireHaikuXNA
That's it, started to practice with this tool. I don't even know if/how/when I'll be able to actually texture and rig all this stuff (so many vertices omg!!!), but I'm having a lot of fun :D I still need to figure out how certain patterns work, but being able to finally generate what I have in mind in a 'simple' way is absolutely great.

Poor Lightning (© Square Enix) is mostly bald here. Her hair would just get in the way and I wouldn't be able to simulate the clothing properly, only displayed it in the first picture to see how she would look once complete :XD:

Nice program for sure! I have been using since some time… Too bad the "documentation" is a (bad) joke.

That's amazing! I've tried MD before (I should try it again lol) and my results were bad compared to yours xD I really love the third one especially.

I know what you mean, my very first tries were a complete disaster, an epic fail :XD: but I've seen people with no sewing experience creating beautiful clothes so I was like: "Why can't I?" and tried again and again. It's so hard, especially when you have a complicated concept in mind and have no idea of how the pattern would work... but once you get it it's easy (well apart from the fact that you then need to texture and rig all those things lol)

Well I had a look at some videos where it showed some basic shapes and different sewing on the pieces etc to help me a little, but I didn't do too much to make me make fabulous clothes like yours xD The texturing wasn't a bad thing for me after exporting actually lol.

I'm honestly scared by the texturing XD mostly because the UVs are weird in blender and don't look like the original patterns created. I don't know, maybe I'm missing something during the exportation.

You probably need to mark a UV seam, it will make the UV look better xD en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_…
Though, after exporting from MD, I recommend using ZBrush and using the ZRemesher function to change the topology to something similar to the base model, the toplogy of the model straight from MD is a bit messy lol.

I know that mark seam method, but never actually used it for XPS models :XD: thanks for suggesting it.
And ooohhh I know!!!! So many vertices that rigging those things is a real pain! But how does the ZRemesher works in ZBrush? I have the program, but I'm still a n00b with it ;_;

No prob.
I can't remember exactly, but after importing the model you need to find Geometry (I believe) on the right hand side and you will see ZRemesher. The options you need to choose I think are Freeze Border and either Same or Double (it's better to use Same, Double will increase the poly count and make it even harder to rig xD) Then just press the ZRemesher button, and export :P

Oooohhh thank you for that I absolutely have to try it :XD: the exported mesh is a mess for real and certainly this stuff wouldnt even move properly lol

Ti capisco!

Are you active on forums for 3D art? Is the program hard to get? Resource hungry? Sorry for all the questions. :XD:

Not really. I'm active on tumblr where I sometimes post my 3D arts and designs. Also on Patreon.
I think I got this program from a friend a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure you would be able to find it around...

Why not?? The folds you've made in the fabric look very realistic.

The folds are created by the program automatically with the simulation... but creating the sewings is a real pain :XD:

Do they have something like "Marvelous Rigger"?  :D (Big Grin)

Not sure, honestly. I think there is some kind of rig script in there but it probably only works with default MD models. Dunno, I don't really need to rig models in that program lol
If you want to rig models you could try the Mixamo site, you need to sign up with an Adobe account but then you should have unlimited free rigs. That will require a lot of work and fixes though, and it doesn't even rig faces.
