My first playthrough was a disaster and I ended up with Control (I couldn't really decide). The second one was way better because I scanned all the planets and complited all the possible missions, so I had all the three endings available. At first I picked Destroy, because I wanted to see my Shepard take a breath at the end... but honestly I don't like the fact that you need to destroy all the synthetics in order to make your Shepard survive, so I played that part again and picked Synthesis instead. I think Synthesis is probably the best one, because yeah... you change everyone, but at least they all survive and live helping each other. Control is not that bad, but I have a theory. For example, how do we know that Shepard won't go all crazy years after, forgetting about everything? She would become a simple Reaper and a new war might start again >_<
Synthesis looks like the better one, even if Shepard won't survive. A part of me wishes that everyone, Shep included, will be able to survive this terrible war, but honestly I think it would be just impossible. I mean, thinking about it, any big war works like that... and Shepard was the hero of the galaxy, even if she/he died once already, sadly it doesn't mean that our beloved Commander shouldn't die again
And lol, I once didn't pick anything by accident, because of the replies I decided to give to the Starchild it would be great, except for the fact that Reapers will destroy your world and kill everyone. The message Liara recorded in the end, praying for the better future they weren't able to build for themselves, was kind of sad.

That's true, too. The odds really were against them, and it makes sense that Shepard had to die (except for the ending where he/she doesn't)
I just wish there was a choice to just destroy the Reapers, and not worry about hurting anything else, or enhancing DNA or something. The choices were just so difficult, I spent almost ten minutes trying to decide which was the best
Do like I did: play all the three endings one after another XD (I first picked Destroy because Shepard is supposed to survive, but like I said, I didn't like the fact that I had to kill all the synthetics. I also thought about Joker without EDI and that made me sad. I was also curious to see the other endings and recorded them), copying the autosaves.
Actually the renegade one is supposed to be Destroy, since you kill all the Synthetics alive, included EDI (though your Shepard survives) Control is not exactly the best ending out there, because honestly, I can't be sure my Shepard won't lose her mind being a Reaper years/centuries later. Synthesis is probably the best one, since you keep everyone alive and "fused" together.
Reason I think "Destroy" is paragon is because I look at it from the Catalyst point of view. I mean, I'm sure he doesn't want to be destroyed. But ultimately, every gamer has there own perspective. I don't agree with Synthesis cause I don't think it's right to change every species in the galaxy without them knowing I was given the choice to begin with. To me, making everyone the "same" destroys diversity. One of things I love about Mass Effect is the diverse group of characters and species and how everyone tries to get along despite their differences.
Destroy is paragon and the best ending possible according to bioware and their game guide.
There is only one full complete ending which is Destroy. Which is only possible by making sure your galaxy readiness is high and that you have enough game support point by the end.
Why are the colours wrong? i personally think this is due to indoctrination, it certainly confused me, and ill be honest and admit on my first ever playthrough i chose control, because it was blue and represented paragon in my eyes. its was only after seeing what had happened due to my choices and thinking omg illusive man was shown doing this!! (idiot!) that i realised the reapers and the child (harbinger) had decieved and fooled me in choosing the full indoctrinaton ending.
Destroy ending, and shepard waking up in rubble, is shepard waking up after mentally defeating indoctrnation. overcoming and resisting the choices given to him.
but anyway, back to your convo... they wouldnt make the best ending the wrong choice in the game. few blogs from casey and friends have already stated that destroying the reapers is the true paragon ending its what youve set out to do. But you have to live with the desicion that you have killed all synthetics. but for the greater good of the universe.
Yeah, the endings are more personal. Let's say every ending has a good point and something positive. Destroy allows you to finally destroy the Reapers and to keep Shepard alive. So, after three games and after she/he died once already, the Commander can finally be together again with her/his lover and friends... or at least this is what you think seeing the ending. Control keeps everyone alive and the Reapers controlled... so the galaxy is safe and the risk is gone. Synthesis keeps everyone alive as well and synthetics like EDI can actually "feel" for the first time. But these three endings have also a negative part :\ a happy ending would be Shepard alive, everyone safe and Reapers destroyed... but thinking about it, it would definitely be too much... and too impossible.
